Week 6 11/17-11/21 Another Busy Week

 11/17-11/21

Week 6
Another Busy Week

It was another busy week. Taking care of Lilly, spending time with Elizabeth and the pups, and working I do not have much time to put all the pictures and blog posts together.

So here is our week.

Tuesday 11/17/2020

We had a good day. The highlight of our day was going to the Arena. Lilly is not a big fan YET. She likes staying close to the door. But she will check out the stuff in the corner. My goal is to set up things around the arena for her to check out. But this also means putting all the things away. Lol so time wise this will probably wait until after Elizabeth is in Indiana and I do not have to worry about timing and getting home to her and the pups.

It was also the first time I sat down in the pasture with the horses. It was wonderful. All the horses where resting and sleeping even the horse in the pasture next door stopped by to say hello to me.

We had another great day. We went for a walk to do some hand grazing. We went to a different location. We went outside the farm fence and near biggest pasture. Lilly loved all the dry grass! We also sat in the pasture together and had such a nice rest. Lilly fell asleep with her head right over me. It was wonderful!

Big scare today. The highlight of today was going for a longer walk towards the outdoor arena. It is very far away and I want to eventually be able for us to walk down there to do things. So we are starting to practice walking down there. We got about 1/4 of the way there with lots of hand grazing. On the way back Lilly had a scare. She ran around and tried to jump on top of me a few times. I was able to move away from her as well as mover her off me. We danced around while I tried to get her to calm down. When she was a little calmer we  made our way back to her pasture. Then we relaxed a little in the pasture a little.

Friday 11/20/2020

We had another good day. The highlight of today was when we were in the arena Lilly pushed the ball with her nose. First she tried to pick it up/eat it with her mouth and then she pushed it with her nose. Of course I did not get a picture. But I did get a great picture of her eating with Nora and Della. She was eating first and than Nora came over and they shared. Then Della came over and again they shared but not for long as Della tried to drive Lilly away. So Lilly walked away.

I have spent lots of time organizing Lilly's food. She has 10 different kinds of food (alfalfa pellets, alfalfa cubes, flax seed meal, hemp seed meal, vitamin mix, chia seeds, raw pumpkin seeds, split peas, rice bran oil, and calcium supplement) to make sure she is getting all the amino acids and fatty acids she needs. I have all the new containers to organize the food and keep it fresh.

Today was a good  day. The highlight of today was horse breath and Elizabeth and pups coming out in the evening session.
The best feeling in the world is warm horse breath on your face as you are sitting relaxing with your horse and they are falling asleep and they nuzzle your face and sigh. It is amazing. It is so peaceful. Magical. The other really cool thing was right as I was leaving Lilly laid down!!!! If I would have just stayed 5 more min - maybe she would have laid down with me. It is exciting that this goal of mine is getting closer.
Then in the evening session - Elizabeth and Serenity and Sonnet came with me. Elizabeth is going to help the pups become desensitized to the horses. She took one pup at a time around the farm. Letting them sniff, giving them treats, and helping them learn to not bark. Neither of them barked!!! Serenity went first.  She was anxious and had a lot of energy. She did very well. She said hello to 4 horses. Elizabeth took her around 2 times. Then she took Sonnet. Sonnet did even better.  She had lots of energy but not as anxious. She said hello to 9 horses. It was wonderful. Elizabeth took her around 2 times. Then Elizabeth took Serenity around one more time. But then Elizabeth was too tired and she gave up. She is going to come again tomorrow. This is only 3 times she has come out to see Lilly. I am glad she is motivated to come again.
