It has begun. What I have hoped for, dreamed of, wished for, and wanted my whole life....
I bought a horse!!!!!!
So let’s start at the beginning.
For the last few years I have been browsing the internet for horses. I never thought I would be able to ride one again because I am not under 250 pounds.
But I decided to do research and found there ARE horses I can ride at my weight. I found some articles like this one from Helpful Horse Tips.
I found a few horses that could hold me. The key is the weight a horse can carry is 20-25% of its weight.
1. Belgian Horse
Weighs over 2,000
20% = should be able to accommodate rider and saddle of at least 400 pounds
2. Shire Horse
Weighs over 2,000
20% = should be able to accommodate rider and saddle of at least 400 pounds
The record holder Shire Horse “Sampson” weighed 3360 pounds = 672 rider and saddle
3. Suffolk Punch
Weighs 2,000-2,200
20% = should be able to easily accommodate rider and saddle of 400+ pounds
4. Percheron Horse (not from article)
Weighs 1,900-2,600
20% = should be able to easily accommodate rider and saddle of 400+ pounds
So after seeing all these beautiful horses and knowing that my dream could come true, I started searching for Suffolk punch horses for sale. I choose this horse because I loved their brilliant red color and thought it fitting I should have a red horse.
That’s when I discovered Penny. She was beautiful. She had this red sheen like her father. But was also like my secret desire to have my own "Black Beauty." She was amazing. I was so excited. I contacted All the King's Horses the place that had her.

I decided to reach out. When I reached out in February I discovered Penny already found her new home. I was sad. But I learned she had a full sibling on the way! I was so excited. I checked in with them in March to see how Lucky was doing.
Love how you have this record, it’s like a baby book! 😁😍
