Day 4 with Lilly -
Persistence is Paying Off
One thing about me is
I am very stubborn. But this means I am persistent. I think that is the more positive way of talking about myself. Because of my persistence Lilly and I am making good boundaries in our relationship. I think most women have issues really stating and upholding the boundaries that they have. So the lesson about boundaries is really important. Boundaries is very important when working with super confident horses. Based on how Lilly has been behaving I think she is a super confident, extrovert horse. These horses have lots of opinions about things.
Today, Lilly and I continued working on my boundaries during feeding time. She really has very strong feelings around feeding supplement time.
Here is my facebook post about out successes today.
So we have a full day of successful feedings!!!
I’m still doing it with the fence between us until her level of protest goes way down.
This morning she only turned her butt to kick me twice!!! And stopped and looked at me when I gave her my “hey” single to stop! And she came forward much more hesitantly when coming to her food.
This evening she didn’t turn to kick at me AT ALL!!!! She still had to be pushed away with the flag but it was much much less AND I didn’t need to get as big with my energy!!!!!!!!! And when I went to pick up and move her food slow feeder she didn’t try anything (first time for that!!!)
Thank you

!!!! We are getting there! Depending on her energy tomorrow I’m gonna try it in her paddock! Golden nuggets!
All of the above plus she has constantly neighed at me when I arrive!
She always comes and greets me at the gate!
She lets me take off and put on her fly mask with no issues!! (To protect her eyes from the debris In the high speed winds - maybe why her eye got hurt).
She has been relaxing more around me
She let me wipe her eyes with a warm wet cloth
She let me put her ointment in
She’s letting me rub her head
She neighed when I left
She was super cute to watch today
She likes pawing at things (her supplement feeder, the hay feeder, her water trough) lol
She has so much personality
Golden nuggets for me
I really listened to myself
I was calm
I was firm
I listened to my horse
I set us up for success
I made good choices today
I spent undemanding time with her
I praised her for her golden nuggets
I enjoyed being with her
I overcame challenges
I rode my bike 24 miles in 30mph winds to make sure I was with her
It was a great day!
