Beginnings

Following My Heart - Living My Dream

My Aunt Meg bought us a rocking horse

From the time I was a small child I have always dreamed of having my own horse. My sister and I collected horses and my pretty ponies. we would save and pool our money together just to buy more.

When I was in foster care I got to take care of the horse and I loved it. I got to ride horses at camp and I loved it.

As I got older, I even took a summer job cleaning stables just to be around horses. I always wanted to be a large animal vet (again because of my love for horses). My dream was to have a ranch in the mountains with horses I wanted to raise baby horses and train them and love them. As my life changed and more things and experiences happened my dream evolved with it adding new details.

I want a horse
I want to raise and train horses
I want a ranch in the mountains with horses, goats, chickens
I want to have a ranch in the mountains with horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, where foster kids can come
I want to open a boarding school for foster kids and any kid that has been hurt it will Hve a summer camp as well with a ranch in the mountains with horses and lots of animals

This was always my Dream....horses, mountains, helping kids

It has been something I have been talking about for years. But I have put other people’s needs and wants ahead of mine. Sometimes rightfully so most of the time not. When my oldest child was young I lived my life for them. Meghan would tell me from the age of about 8 that they was going to grow up, be a famous lawyer, make lots of money and buy me my horses and ranch in the mountains. They were so sweet. It was beautiful that even at a young age my Meghan wanted me to live my dreams. They have always been my biggest cheerleader!! I wanted to be the best mom I could be so I put my “unrealistic” dreams on hold.

As Meghan got older and when they became an adult I still didn’t follow my dreams because I didn’t feel I was worth it. I lived my life for other people.

But that stops now.

As I get older (I’m 43 as of today) I realize that I am worth it. I deserve to give to myself like I have always given to other people. I have always helped people accomplish their dreams - why don’t I ever do that for myself?

So I’m finally going to live my dream!
